Battlecross premiere new song 'Spoiled' via Loudwire

Motor City thrashers Battlecross are currently out on the road with Crowbar and Lord Dying on "The Summer of Doom Tour" in support of their forthcoming release "Rise to Power"! The tour has been a career highlight for the band and the legendary sludge metallers Crowbar have really taken a liking to the band.

Today the band unleashes another scorching track from "Rise To Power". Loudwire is exclusively premiering the song entitled "Spoiled". Get your first listen to the track here.

Guitarist Tony Asta spoke about the track: ""Spoiled" kicks in with a heavy rockin old-school vibe and progresses into a brutal more technical feel. It's also a really fun song to jam. The subject matter and lyrics of "Spoiled" were inspired by the dependency on modern technology, more specifically the cyber world. An entire generation thrives from its use but does not know what it was like before the internet existed. It IS a great tool, although the magnitude of its impact on our everyday lives sometimes gives me the chills. This is the only song I had a hand in writing lyrics for and you can thank the "phone-gazing zombies" for it."

Additionally the first song from "Rise to Power", "Not Your Slave", is streaming at this location. "Rise to Power" will be released worldwide on Metal Blade Records on August 21st, 2015. The record was produced by Jason Suecof, and mixed/mastered by Mark Lewis at Audiohammer Studios. Cover art was completed by Hungarian artist Péter Sallai (Sabaton, Sacred Steel).

"Rise to Power" Track listing:
1. Scars
2. Not Your Slave
3. Absence
4. Spoiled
5. The Climb
6. Blood & Lies
7. Bound by Fear
8. Despised
9. Shackles
10. The Path

Battlecross' previous album, "War of Will," debuted at #134 on the Billboard Top 200 chart upon its release in July of 2013. This was the band's first ever Billboard chart debut! "War of Will" also peaked at #3 on the US iTunes metal chart on the day of release. Watch the music video for "Never Coming Back" now at this location.

Blow The Scene hosts PAWS benefit show July 10th

Next week, Philadelphia-based underground music, arts and activism webzine, Blow The Scene, will host its annual benefit show for PAWS -- the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society -- with a wide array of artists set to perform and a wealth of other activities confirmed.

Blow The Scene Presents A Night of Music / Art & Animal Love, set to take place next Friday, July 10th at The Pharmacy in South Philly. Sponsored by Psychics.com, Earsplit PR and Sit & Spin Records, the show will be used to collect donations to aid PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society), and will include live performances from Mother Brain (Long Island grindcore champs), Gut Feeling (North Carolina hardcore act with members of Catharsis, Undying and more), Grin And Bear It (Cleveland powerhouse PV/punk), Dying (Philly XVX hardcore), Die Choking (Philly hyper grinders) and Drones For Queens (Philly shredders).

Additionally, an art show is part of the benefit, where many artists from all over the world are donating art prints that will be on display and for sale at this cash and carry event curated by Ryann Casey. Attendees will be able purchase rad art pieces for very reasonable prices. All monies collected from the art sales in addition to the $10 admittance fee will ALL be donated to PAWS!

Those not in the area can also take part in the benefit; people everywhere can donate and get awesome rewards from BlowTheScene including band pictures of your choice printed on METAL!

Check it all out and please support the fundraiser here.

Also see the official event page here, an article on the bands performing at the show here.

Those attending please do not bring your pets to the event; as much as we'd love to see them, loud shows are not a healthy environment for animals with sensitive hearing.

Artists can also donate their works to the event. Donated art can be any work on paper (old or new) and should be unframed (all work will be hung with wire and/or T-pins). We are also asking that all pieces be no larger than 20x24 so we can plan space accordingly and should be priced reasonably (the max price is $50 since this is a cash and carry event). Because of the quantity of work going into this show, we are asking that everything be either dropped off or received by no later than Sunday July 5th.

For art donations contact ryanncasey@hotmail.com. Persons or entities interested in sponsoring the event contact: joshua@blowthescene.com. For media info contact: dave@earsplitcompound.com.

Two Swedish bands with a lot in common! Though their sonic ideals are firmly rooted in the past, they are exploring the future of underground metal through creative songwriting and unusual genre crossovers. Both bands are currently returning to the scene with new material after years of silence and are joining forces for a European tour in the fall of 2015.

Starting off in the United Kingdom and continuing on a campaign through continental Europe, these brothers in arms are psyched about finally hitting the road together to present a wide palette of heavy, doom, speed and thrash metal soaked in the sweat of do-it-yourself punk mentality.

Ears will bleed, heads will bang and fists will be raised triumphantly as a new metal movement dawns - where will you be?

Review: Unleash The Archers - Time Stands Still

In november 2007 the base for the band started, when Buchanan and Slayes started to form their band to play melodical metal. After various line-up changes it looks if the band has the strong line-up they want.

Their two full length releases and an EP brings us to their third full length, Time Stands Still. Musically it is more than power metal, tending to get some death metal influences in it, which makes it suitable for an even wider public.

They open after an intro with the song "Frozen Steel" and they make immediately clear what they can with their instruments, and besides the music they got a lead singer with power and reach, and not only a nice face but what a voice she has. The guys that surrounds this power throated woman are more than capable to get this band on the stage that they are now.

A strong structured first song is what they deliver, with fancy guitar work and the vocals and screams of a passioned Slayes. "Hail of the Tide" is full of breaks and solo's played in rapid speed and the collaboration of the two six stringers is phenomenal, their leads are just of great craftsmanship just like the rest of the guitarworks.

"Tonight we Ride" is sounding evil on parts which breaks the "normal" sound very well.

The song "Test Your Metal" is a great ode to the older Judas Priest and colleagues, this song will bring you back when this music was in their high tide, which never has gone of course.

It is just too much to go on over every song, it hits just the right quality with some great darker passages to death metal but the overall sound is great composed metal with a great singer!

The production is smooth, every little thing is just correct. It has the feeling but never loses the brutality of playing fast paced metal. Drums are not innovative but does the job perfectly, bass is just an integral part of the band and makes this the best release of the band. With every release they get even better/matured in the style they play. A very great addition when liking this style of metal, quality is very high and that is what you expect of this band and they just delivered with this release.

New video from Wrathage

"The text is about the human experience, or the absurd experience, that the human is alone in a world that leaves all our questions ultimately without answers, and also confined within itself, alone with this experience because to convey or communicate this experience as such without leaving anything out is impossible. Thus it is about what it is to be human, being human and identifying with this role, being the role or playing the part through despair, loneliness, or existential isolation if you will, and also fear, wildness and danger.

The video goes further than the text, although it too is mainly concerned with passage rather than arrival as it offers, as a kind of climax, some calm and sense of presence as that invisible line between solitude and unity is transcended thus portraying also the contradictory progress of immersion into the self that doesn't lead to further solitude but to the discovery of the other within the self that thus ends the loneliness and brings the experience back into the outside where everything was to begin with."

Scandinavian black metallers Nordjevel reveal track and video from debut full-length album

Although as a band Nordjevel is a newcomer to the scene, the individual musicians definitely are not. With a lineup that includes Djevel (Svartelder, Doedsvangr) on vocals, Nord (Fatal Impact, Byrdi) on guitars and bass, and Fredrik Widigs on drums, Nordjevel have not wasted any time in getting down to writing and recording material for their debut full-length album. Nor have they wasted any time in allowing fans to have a taste of what to expect from this combination of Norwegian and Swedish musicians, and have today debuted the track "Denne Tidløse Krigsdom", which can be heard below.

Nordjevel, which translated means Northern Devil, was formed by Djevel and Nord earlier this year, when, after having had various conversations, they found that their views on black metal, the Occult and the origins of Norway were perfectly in synch. When the idea of the band was mentioned to Swedish drummer Fredrik Widigs, he was interested enough to join the lineup. Although his commitments to his other projects preclude him from committing to appearing live with the band, he will nevertheless be a full-time studio member of Nordjevel and contribute significantly to writing and arranging the music along with Djevel and Nord.

The band are currently in the pre-production stage of their debut album, which will be titled "Djevelen I Nord" and includes guest appearances from Troll's Nagash amongst others. A label is currently being sought.

Creeping set release date for Iron Bonehead vinyl version of new album

New Zealand's Creeping are one of the metal underground's best-kept secrets, and thus Iron Bonehead Productions is proud to present the vinyl version of the band's third album, Revenant (Daemon Worship Productions will handle the CD release, which will feature alternate artwork). For a decade now, Creeping have been capturing the sensation(s) of their very moniker with a potent blend of doomed-out death metal dusted with black metalled atmosphere. It's a sound that doesn't conveniently slot into one category - be it black, death, or doom metal - but one that bristles with unself-conscious uniqueness and a strive for the beyond. Revenant is arguably Creeping's best, most-beyond work yet, each of the five molten, monolithic tracks unfolding patiently, dragging the listener into the undertow before crushing all fortitude with the sheer psychic and physical weight of their rotten ruminations. Whether the listener would rather be bulldozed or entranced, it matters not: Revenant tantalizingly offers keys to wherever you care to go. But returning is another matter, one that's forever Creeping... Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Creeping's Revevant
1. Death Knell Offering
2. Scythes Over My Grave
3. Cold Soil
4. Drear

DAWN OF DREAMS [Melodic Death Metal] ft Nightrage & Deadtide - Forever [...

Review: Civil War - Gods And Generals

The ex Sabaton guys that chosen to go on the same warpath as their former band. They are adopting the same musical approach when they were in their former band. In this field of war there is always room, but if it is a wise decision they will see. The civil war era and war theme is nice, not very original but the proven recipe of war is hot as Sabaton still proves.

The musical abilities on this album are shown great, their debut "The Killer Angels" is in the same way only this one is a bit better on all parts.

Guitar technical it is great, the collaboration between the both guitarists is super, solo's are great and catchy riffs complete the sound. The bass parts are one of the things that makes this release very good. The keyboards are in full throttle. The pumping and powerfull drums are driving the band forward and the singer brings UDO in mind and he does that with power and skill.

The song structures are very nice, the chorusses catch the attention. Maybe a bit more interesting Sabaton, at least the music is not less in comparison to their former band.

The album theme is of course war, from generals to the Viking-saga's to the true civil war, a wide scala of war and battlefields they have chosen.

The songs carry their own elements to enhance the song's theme. The song "Schindler's Ark" is bombastic and epic with the background vocals doing the trick of making clear exactly what they want, an epic song.

It is for all to choose their favorite songs, they have strong songs and somewhat lesser songs but overall it is almost an hour of finest Swedish heavy metal and that is exactly what "Civil War" gives you on this album.

The only little thing of the photo's and videos of Civil War are that the use of uniforms can be taken seriously offensive in some region's on earth, United States especially. The talk of today the flag of the confederation is now a thing where they need to be a bit careful with.

For the fans of the musical brother or the clone that is for you to say, a glory ride of just a predecessor copy, their intentions are fighting so just enjoy the musical capabilities of Civil War and see where the warships end on who's shore.

Review: Titans Eve - Chasing The Devil

Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, here is Titans Eve. Their latest full-length Chasing The Devil is just released on June 12. If you like thrash, this might be something you dig, but it isn't standard thrash.

With vocals which are more hardcore-sounding than thrash-sounding and music which is thrash, but also very melodic, the music Titans Eve make isn't just thrash metal. I would call it melodic thrash, but you have to listen for yourself. Songs like No Kingdom and Another Day might let you think that they are heavy, but after a while the melodic parts come by. The thrash spirit is still there, especially in the heavier parts of drums and guitar. Vocally, I already said, it is more hardcore-sounding and that's especially because of it is more shouting, in a hardcore way, not in a thrash way. The vocals, the melodic parts, together with the fact that there are much guitar solo's in it, makes this a very special album. It is thrash, but it is not normal thrash.

You want to hear some thrash metal, but different from other thrash metal? Go listen to Chasing The Devil by Titans Eve.

Review: Awe / Vacantfield / End - Moerae

Three Greek black metal bands, Awe, Vacantfield and End, together made a split called Moerae. Below is the review of the split which contains one track a band.

Awe - Clotho

Greek black metal brings me back to Varathron and Necromantia, but Awe has the "modern" sound. Raw and fast for the majority, varied with some easy going intermezzo's. They developed a sound in which diversity is there, raw with screaming vocals, midtempo and clean vocals. The sound Awe has is like the early Deathspell Omega with the vocals of Mortuus Funeral Mist. The production is very good, they know their instruments well and it is an evil easy listener...

Vacantfield - Lachesis

Vacantfield open with a sound that is very familiar with “Cadaver - Necrosis”, at least they make it more to real rawer black metal. The pace is fast and not blasting but nice to still follow what they do. The variety in vocals is again from screaming to grunting and clean vocals and the use of samples to create an evil atmosphere. The point of black metal evoluated it is what Vacantfield brings, a nice mix of pacey black metal without rest, sometimes becoming slower and evil. The quality of the production is very well and polished but they not give in at brutality.

End - Atropos

The release of End starts slower and more atmospheric then the first two. Vinterland is maybe the sound of End goes to less melodical but they gain on that part more on rawness. End is less evolved then the first two, but they keep it more on the traditional level, with influences from “Vinterland” and some parts “Enslaved” and that brings a certain real vintage black metal. Production is again good, quality of playing is very well and just like the previous two Greek bands they are good, no numbers but above average is the conclusion.
